Cooper and Kirby in great form at Drouin

A stableford competition was held on the Queen’s Birthday public holiday with a field of 13 players taking part in the Monday event.

Winner for the day was Dave Cavanagh with 37 points while a ball down the line was given to Duart Perrin for his score of 35 points.

The midweek players were finally able to have a competition after the previous two weeks were abandoned due to inclement weather.

A field of 36 players participated in the competition with Bruce Salmon blitzing the field with 39 points…four shots clear of the next best player.

Down the lines went to Ian Urquhart, Maurice Papettas and Ken Cooper with 35 points.

Saturday’s competition was a pairs stableford aggregate event, which also included the qualification for this year’s Stroud Trophy Final.

The winning pair were Ken Cooper and Joe Kirby who combined for a total score of 72 points…Ken scoring 37 and Joe 35.

Runners-up for the day were Stan Gajdobranski and Peter Phillips on a count back with 71 points. Stan’s magnificent 42 points helped the pair secure their place in the final to be played as a 4BBB Match Play this Saturday against Cooper and Kirby.

Down the lines went to Danny Gorman and Frank Clebney, Geoff Searle and Kelly Belcher, and Dave Cavanagh and Bob Simpson with 71 points and to Peter Downward and Michael Lithgow with 70.

Nearest the pins went to Stan Gajdobranski 5th, John Roach 8th, Brian Seers 10th and Mark Klaver on the 14th.

LADIES

Drouin ladies returned to competition golf after some very cold and wet Tuesdays.

The Doris Chambers Foursomes Stableford was played, kindly sponsored by Lorna Hoskins.

The winners for 2022 are Anne Neilson (19) and Shirley Roberts (9) with 31 points on a combined handicap of 14.

Anne and Shirley qualify for the next round to be held in October.

Runners up were Helen Moon (25) and Dagmar Forbes (34) with 30 points on a combined handicap of 30.

Down the line balls went to Marion Devlin (32) and Bev Goodwin (31) on 28 points with a combined handicap of 30.

Saturday Ladies commenced the Saturday Club Championships, being held for the first time. Unfortunately, round two of the championships was cancelled due to inclement weather, reducing the competition to two rounds.

The winner of the final round was Glenda Warren (20) with 78 nett, with Marg Purcell (15) runner-up on 81 nett.

The Saturday Club Champion for 2022 is Leanne Pollard (12) with a scratch total of 182.

Leanne also won the Handicap event with a combined net score of 158, just pipping Glenda Warren on 159.

Today is the rescheduled June Monthly Medal Stroke event, sponsored by Drouin Home Timber and Hardware.
