Heather drops her locks

HEATHER Fern made a brave shave on Friday (12 March) in honour of people close to her who have been affected by cancer.
The childcare worker from Westernport Childcare Centre, Kooweerup, lost her locks in front of a sea of coloured hair children also taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave.
Ms Fern said she participated in memory of a young boy, who she once looked after, who lost his battle with Leukaemia at 13 years of age.
“And my best friend died two years ago and a couple of people close to me have cancer now.”
She said her new look was a bit of shock to both her and the children.
“The children laughed and asked if they could glue it back on,” she said.
“I’m not too sure if I like the look but its good having no hair.”
She said she raised more than her initial target of $500.
