Bendigo Bank gives back

BANKS giving back?
It’s not something you hear every day, but the Beaconsfield District Community Branch of the Bendigo Bank believes in giving back to the community, this week handing over $1500 among three local CFA units.
Bank manager Mick Lazari and several board members including Carol Porter, Gerald Treasure, Peter Barton, Maurice Potter, Nick Hilder and Jim Bryne presented the three $500 cheques to the Beaconsfield, Beaconsfield Upper and Officer brigades.
Mr Byrne said the new community branch of the Bendigo Bank was now in its seventh month of operation and had reached its milestone with more than $27 million worth of business on the books.
“The whole idea with community banking is that the profits are shared with the community,” Mr Byrne said. “The three local CFAs have been such great supporters of local business and residents that the bank is able to share profits out to community groups like fire brigades.”
Beaconsfield CFA Captain Paul Hase said the donation would help with the work before next fire season.
“This small donation is greatly appreciated and will be put to good use,” Mr Hase said.
