Over 2000 penalties

MORE than 2000 fines have been issued in Cardinia Shire by council officers over the past year. The most common infringements were related to parking and animals. Over half of the total number were related to parking.
Council spokesperson Paul Dunlop said in most cases, the council issued infringement notices as a last resort.
Warnings or notices of compliance are often given in certain situations before an infringement notice is issued.
