Healthy youngsters

CARDINIA Shire Council is partnering up with MEND Australia and Deakin University to roll out a community-based, healthy lifestyle program for two to four-year-olds.
The program has been developed as a result of strong interest in early years obesity prevention programs from health care and childcare practitioners.
The free 10-week program starts the week of 12 July and is open to all families, including grandparents.
Workshops will cover relevant topics including:
• fussy eating,
• balanced eating, serving sizes, fats and sugars and food label reading,
• screen time and active play,
• encouraging healthy habits and routines,
• cooking together, and
• family rules, tantrums and sleep.
The program is taking place at Cardinia Life, 4 Olympic Way, Pakenham.
Families interested in the program or who would like further details can contact Briony Hill on 9244 6538 or alternatively email briony.hill@deakin.edu.au.
