EMERGENCY whistles, first aid kits and name badges were all part of a care package to 13 local kindergartens this week.
Kinders Together is a group of many kindergartens which, since the 2009 Black Saturday Bushfires, adopted new Emergency Management Plans.
This included the costly process of updating Emergency Evaluation Packs in every playroom. Dianne Price, Kinders Together grants officer, approached local businesses for donations of essential items required in the evaluation packs.
Kindergartens receive partial funding from the State Government and fees paid by parents to run the program, but fundraising is required for any additional purposes.
“Bunnings at Pakenham donated first aid kits and emergency whistles, names badges and children’s walking ropes were donated by Bellbird Kid-z Resources, located in Dandenong,” Ms Price said.
“These generous donations will mean evacuation packs are located in each playroom, ensuring effective emergency management procedures can be followed.”
