PENINSULA League leaders had big wins on the weekend – effectively settling the top four sides for 2010.
Top team Mt Eliza was led to an easy 45-point victory over Langwarrin by a superb nine-goal haul from elusive sharpshooter Grant Masterson, while the Redlegs main rivals for the minor premiership, Frankston YCW, also cruised away to down Bonbeach by 48 points.
The highlight of Seaford’s crushing 106-point demolition of Pines was a bag of seven goals to veteran MPNFL star Jason Marsh, while Karingal made light work of Edithvale-Aspendale to win by nine goals.
The other game saw Chelsea down cellar-dwellers Mornington by 45 points.
Sorrento moved a game clear on top of the Nepean League ladder after issuing Pearcedale with a comprehensive 55-point lesson.
The Sharks were inaccurate in front of goal, booting 12.23, but were never threatened by their struggling opponent.
Rye grabbed fourth place from Rosebud with a thrilling two-point win, highlighted by five goals from former Richmond forward Stephen Ryan.
Red Hill all but sealed itself in the top three after downing second placed Somerville by 27 points in an all-the-way victory.
In other games, Tyabb ended Frankston’s finals hopes with a 13-point victory while Crib Point defeated Dromana by 36 points with ex-Stingray Luke Herrington finishing with five goals.
