Let’s all ‘do a Hannah’

AS the parent of a 17-year-old girl that was killed in a car crash two years ago, on 24 August, I am trying to put a positive spin on such a tragic event, by encouraging people to “Do a Hannah”!
Hannah was asleep in the back seat of a car when the crash happened. There was no speed or alcohol involved, just an inexperienced driver that lost concentration for a split second and failed to stop at a stop sign. Hannah was killed instantly. No one else was injured!
In an attempt to do something positive, in a world full of tragedies, I am encouraging people to “Do a Hannah”!
This is a random act of kindness, carried out for the simple reason of bringing pleasure into a person’s day. There is no recognition required or expected. It does not have to cost money or take up much of your time.
Doing these random acts of kindness has two significant effects. Firstly it has a positive effect on other people’s lives and secondly it gives you a warm feeling inside as well. The ripple effect of these acts will hopefully spread wide and far. What great pleasure it would give me if a total stranger, in 10 years time, put a couple of dollars in my parking meter and stated they were “doing a Hannah”.
On 28 August I have invited Hannah’s friends, and family, to my house to cook, and then decorate, one dozen cup cakes each. They will then give them to a group/organisation of their choice, as an act of kindness. My aim is to have 50 dozen cup cakes cooked and given to a variety of people, groups or organisations.
It is a simply concept, but hopefully the ripple effect of doing something nice for someone else, will spread far and wide.
