A MAN was airlifted to hospital following a two-car collision in Pakenham that caused traffic chaos on Saturday evening.
Police believe the collision occurred at the intersection of the Princes Highway and The Avenue at 4.40pm when the driver of a ute collided with a 4WD.
The driver of the ute received serious injuries and was airlifted to The Alfred while his female passenger received minor injuries and was conveyed to Dandenong Hospital.
The driver of the other car walked away uninjured.
Acting Senior Sergeant Pat McGavigan said the crash served as a reminder for drivers to be safe on the roads.
“Police take this opportunity to remind people to take care on the road,” he said.
The highway was blocked outbound until 6pm on Saturday night as police and rescue crews worked to rescue the man from the wreckage.
