Comedy project delivers smiles

THERE will be smiles all around this Saturday night when local group The Gemco Players Community Theatre hosts ‘Project Smile’ – a cabaret style comedy and song night at The Gem Theatre in Emerald to raise funds for Operation Smile, which provides operations to children all over the world to correct the disfigurement of severe cleft palate.
Often these children, through no fault of their own, suffer a life of persecution and isolation. Operation Smile organises operations for as little as $45 to restore the children’s confidence to participate fully in their communities.
Operation Smile, the ‘Smile charity’, can reverse the misery of cleft lip and cleft palate with straightforward surgical procedures that can take as little as 45 minutes. Throughout the world, more than 160,000 children have experienced this transformation.
Locals can help bring smiles back to these children this Saturday 22 March during a night featuring local acts performing hilarious skits, music, and dance performances. The show starts at 7.30pm and includes nibbles. The cost is $15.
