LET this year’s Yakkerboo festival take you to another planet as it revisits Pakenham for the 36th year.
While maintaining its rich tradition, there are a few new elements in the air, including an exciting new outer space theme.
While the imminent closure of the racecourse has been cause for a few alterations, the committee is as excited as ever to bring the annual all-age event across to new and old Pakenham residents.
A revised route has been designed, and a new area has been organised for parade entries and floats to assemble before the parade.
The spirit of Yakkerboo will live on with the traditional parade, unique vehicle cavalcade, fireworks, market stalls, free rides, raffle, colouring competition and much more.
Festival president Michael Porter hoped the weather they have been blessed with in previous years will arrive again, encouraging residents of all ages to turn out for the Saturday night fireworks and free rides on Sunday.
While space will be scarce this year, there is a large car park in James Street, one at the corner of John and Henry Street, one near the CFA running track in John Street and, of course, the Marketplace car park.
Families are invited for a great day and night out, with rides kicking off around 6pm on Saturday 29 March. See inside for more details.
