A BERWICK man has lost his licence after being caught driving at more than 40 kilometres per hour over the speed limit in Upwey.
The 19-year-old P-plater was detected travelling at 111km/h in a 70km/h zone on Wednesday 15 October which resulted in a $627 fine and the immediate loss of his licence for six months.
“This behaviour is unacceptable,” Senior Sergeant Dan Hilton of the State Highway Patrol Solo Unit said.
“We’re very lucky that these incidents didn’t result in a fatality.
“We’ve seen what speed, distraction and general disregard of the road laws can lead to and it needs to stop.”
The man, who was caught by State Highway Patrol officers, was charged alongside 77 other road-safety offenders on the day as part of Operation Moto Safe.
