Homes aplenty in Officer

AROUND 1740 new homes will emerge in Officer in coming years after a major property company purchased 127 hectares of land last week.
The Slatterley Property Group purchased the land in the Aspect estate for $53.45m from Places Victoria.
Group chief executive Nigel Satterley said the land was perfectly positioned in a major growth corridor, with approvals and an established buyer market already in place.
“We aim to provide the places people want to live in, with beautiful family parks, playgrounds and outdoor places, a sense of community; and everything you need nearby. We’ll be making sure we deliver that at Officer,” he said.
“Around 1740 home sites.”
He said the group would move in and begin selling within weeks, and would manage the ongoing development of stages 10 to 12, which includes around 60 lots.
Places Victoria will continue to manage the development of the Officer Town Centre.
PV chief executive Officer Gregory Anderson said it was committed to completing development in the areas of Aspect where residents were already living or where construction was underway.
Meanwhile, the Cardinia Shire Civic Centre is due to open on Monday 17 September.
Located in Siding Avenue, the centre will bring all indoor staff into one location, and will be a short walk to Officer railway station.
Mayor Graeme Moore said there would be no disruption to service delivery during the relocation.
“Residents and ratepayers can look forward to a range of improvements as a result of the move, both from a cost-efficiency and customer service perspective,” he said.
