Flat prices greet larger market

Extra numbers at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, last Wednesday for the Fat Sale saw prices flat on the previous week.
Easier quality pulled prices back in the secondary section and extra store pens saw restockers stronger in the market.
Heifers proved hard to push and eased 12 cents on the previous sale.
More bullocks were penned and remained firm, steers averaged heavier although easier demand saw them remain firm on the previous week.
Veal were lighter selling to firm demand and also finished the sale similar to the previous sale.
The yard average was 170.6 cents, firm.
Fifty-one bullocks topped at 190 cents, up six cents, and averaged 165.1 cents, firm; 113 heifers topped at 190 cents, back 15 cents, and averaged 151.4 cents, back 12 cents; 117 steers topped at 211.6 cents, up 16 cents, and averaged 167.1 cents, firm; 312 veal topped at 228.6 cents, firm and averaged 182.4 cents, firm.
The Thursday Bull and Cow Sale saw demand ease in the cow section, but bulls sold to stronger demand, with the top bull making to 213.6 cents, and the average was up 10 cents to 179 cents.
There were 273 cows penned with the top price being eight cents back at 160 cents and the average was 14 cents easier at 125.9 cents.
Bullocks made to 168.6 cents, back seven cents and averaged 148.2 cents.
The yard average was 10 cents easier at 134.4 cents.
There were 368 calves sold on Monday with Friesian heifers topping at $810, beef calves reached $220, bull calves $64 and Jersey heifers made to $200.
