GARFIELD GOLF
IT’S was all about the club titles last week as Round 2 of the championships sorted out the contenders.
Gus McKillop now leads the way with a two-round score of 141 and takes a big lead of nine-shots over Shane Male into this week’s final round. Should be easy work for Gus who is attempting his third title in succession.
The B-Grade title is far closer with Ian Hopper leading on 157 from Mick Neylan and the white-hot Tolly Baharis on 160.Trailing them is Terry Webster and Trevor Franklin on 163.
Ian Lidstone leads the way in C-Grade on 174, two-shots clear of Peter Federenko, whilst Graham Thorpe leads D-Grade on 193 from Neil Watson on 197.
A seeded draw takes place for the leading groups; A Grade 10.55am Gus McKillop, Robert Taylor, Grant McLure, Shane Male. B Grade 10.45am Ian Hopper, Mick Neylan, Tolly Baharis , Carl Gilbert. B Grade 10.35am Trevor Franklin, Terry Webster, Dave Lawler, Richard Perry. C Grade 10.25am Ian Lidstone, Peter Fedorenko, Mick Howsin, Scott O’Donnell. Other tee times remain the same as the first two rounds.
Saturdays’ event was stroke with, once again, Tolly Baharis cleaning up A Grade with a fine round of 64 nett – where’s the handicapper you may ask?
Ian Lidstone shot a fine 65 nett to win B Grade whilst Barrie Cousin continued his great recent form surge to win C Grade with 64 nett. Twenty birdies were scored on the par-threes with the two Grants – McLure and McKay – scoring doubles. A score of 66 was needed for a down the line ball.
In conjunction with Golf Australia, Garfield golf club is participating in National Golf Week starting on Monday 18 November.
