IMPLEMENTING a state-based Renewable Energy Target would be warmly received by some sections of the Gembrook electorate, Greens candidate Michael Schilling has said.
In the midst of his third election campaign, the Gembrook candidate said it had been a privilege to hear the stories of local community groups like the Emerald SES, Fernlea House palliative care and the Emerald Community House.
He has also had a consistent presence at local markets, where a state-based RET, and putting money back into the TAFE system, were wants voiced within the electorate.
“It’s been so heartening to have so many people approach us for support,” he said.
“During this campaign it has been a privilege to be able to hear the stories of community groups achieving great things.
“What was highlighted to me was the lack of resources and funding made available to these places, who are doing incredible things for our community.
“I have enjoyed meeting members of the community, hearing their local concerns and sharing the Greens positive plans for Gembrook.”
The Cardinia Greens branch will also celebrate its first birthday next month.
“Our branch prides itself on being a part of the Cardinia community and will advocate for residents and local groups wherever we can,” he said.
Mr Schilling’s name was inadvertently left off the field of candidates information published in last week’s paper. The mistake was made by the Gazette.
