GIPPSLAND Storm Elite Development Netball Club has begun its 2015 campaign, with the annual pre-season camp, held at Emerald Lake over the Australia Day weekend.
As happens every year, the weekend was all about new players within the club finding their feet, and the newly named squads being able to train together and form friendships over the course of the three-day camp.
Newly announced sponsors Inspire Physiotherapy attended the camp on the first morning and ran the girls through a range of strength and conditioning exercises. Financial support from sponsor Hamilton Fire Services also allowed the club to provide all players with foam rollers for the first time.
Head Coach Simon O’Shanassy was impressed with how all squads applied themselves during the gruelling weekend, and also how each squad came together over the weekend.
Storm have been running their pre-season camp for 15 years now, and every year there are players who have a competitive edge and stand out. The pre-season camp is designed to challenge players and coaches, taking them out of their comfort zone, and bringing out leadership qualities.
Gippsland Storm also welcomed four new coaches to their 2015 roster, who along with the current Storm coaches made the camp a huge success.
Gippsland Storm in conjunction with Monash University Storm are now gearing up for their next big event, the VNL (Victorian Netball League) home game to be held at Cardinia Life, Pakenham, on Saturday 21 March.
This is a once-a-year opportunity, to see state league netball played on our doorstep, featuring Monash University Storm’s Championship, Division 1 and 19-and-under squads, up against VNL’s Melbourne University Lightning. A highlight of the year’s netball calendar – last year’s VNL inaugural home game was a huge success.
Gippsland Storm and Monash University Storm extend an open invitation to all netball clubs, teams, coaches and players to attend and experience netball played at the highest level in the state. Visit www.gippslandstorm.com.au for more information.
