BERWICK locals are invited to fundraise in rockabilly style as part of Rockn’ Suzie’s Good Friday Appeal.
The seventh annual fundraiser at Berwick Leisure Centre will see the community rocking and shaking from 10am until 10pm on Friday 3 April for a good cause.
Eleven bands, including Impalas, Prairie Oysters and the Fender Benders, will rock the stage throughout the day while DJ Jeff will keep the crowds entertained between the bands’ hour sets.
The event, which originally started in Pakenham, will also include a Show and Shine, dancing and plenty of entertainment for the kids.
Event organiser and Rockn’ Suzie’s member Sue Dodson said the event would, for the first time, attract a number of antique trucks as part of the car display.
The ’50s rock and roll themed day will also include a range of retro stalls, a jumping castle, a face painter, temporary tattoos, a raffle and lots of give-aways for the kids.
“We try to keep it a cheap day for parents with kids by giving kids under 16 free entry, and the things for them to do on the day are very cheap,” Sue said.
Sue said the event aimed to raise as much money as possible for the Royal Children’s Hospital as possible.
Entry for adults is $15 and kids under 16 can go for free, while show car drivers can get in for only $10.
The bar will be open, coffee and food will be available and organisers hope a large inviting dance floor will see visitors getting into the rhythm of some of the various genres of music.
All profits from the day will go toward the appeal. For information about the event, contact Sue on 0400 216 670.
