DON’T despair Nathan… we’ve missed it too!

THE actions of Hampton Park midfielder Nathan Dawes seem to sum up the feelings of the local football community. It’s been a long six months since Beaconsfield skipper Daniel Mislicki and coach Clint Evans held aloft the last ever Casey Cardinia premiership cup. There’s been a summer of cricket to get through, a Grand Prix, the Australian Open, and that bloody World Cup, how long did that take to get out of the way! Well the footy’s back, and in a big way too, with the all-new South East Football Netball League set to take the greatest game of all to a whole new level. Dawes and his Hampton Park team mates will roll out the welcome-mat this Friday as the SEFNL kicks off an exciting new chapter in local football with a season-opener between the Redbacks and Doveton at Robert Booth Reserve. The Gazette also kicks into gear next week, with the region’s best footy coverage resuming with a 16-page Liftout that can only be described as a cracker! Welcome back footy... we’ve missed you!136398 Picture: STEWART CHAMBERS
