AMONG the many attending Anzac Day services on Saturday morning were over 200 residents gathered at Cardinia Waters.
Held at the Village Bowling Green, those present listened to a moving and informative address from Major Guy Warnock, the son of residents Keith and Norma.
Master of ceremonies John Cleland opened the ceremony before Doreen Burkitt laid the wreath and John Hutchinson recited The Ode.
The last post was played by Walter Wood, a former resident of the village.
Walter was supported by the ‘Village Singers’, who sang a moving rendition of Advance Australia Fair as well as a selection of songs from the first and second world wars.
In a moving gesture, sprigs of rosemary were issued to residents who placed them under the Australian flag.
Resident Alan Burkitt said that spirits were high throughout the service.
“A light shower of rain did nothing to dampen the spirit of residents as they moved into the clubhouse for a morning tea prepared by the village chef,” he said.
