CENTRAL Pakenham was the hardest hit by car thieves over the past week.
Police have issued a graphic showing the areas worst affected by opportunistic thieves who stole items from cars, locked or unlocked, in the area.
From Monday 20 April until Sunday 26 April, 13 cars were broken into including three theft attempts.
Between 8pm on Tuesday 21 April and 8am on Wednesday 22 April, a wallet was stolen from an unlocked car parked in Mason Mews in Pakenham.
Police said the driver’s bank card was later used in a range of fraudulent online transactions, and encouraged others to keep their cars locked at all times.
