Bankers concede next to nothing

ELLINBANK AND DISTRICT NETBALL ASSOCIATION
PREVIEW – ROUND 6

ELLINBANK’S showdown with Bunyip highlights Round-6 action of the EDNA this Saturday, with two of the competition’s top-five sides going head-to-head in a fascinating battle.
The Bankers have been incredible on the defensive end of the court, particularly, over the opening five rounds – conceding just 104 goals. Bunyip, which has played just the four games so far and is coming off the bye, has scored 154 goals but the likes of Claire Ablett and Taylah Roberts will have their work cut out for them this week.
Bunyip is a vastly improved side, and has plenty of potential for further improvement, but Ellinbank will be too strong this week.
Meanwhile, the second-placed Nar Nar Goon will take on the sixth-placed Buln Buln at the scene of one of the games of the season so far – at Denham’s Road in Kooweerup, where the Demons pipped the Goon in Round 4.
The Goon is an all-around powerhouse – boasting a brilliant defence, midcourt and attack – and the Lyrebirds face a huge challenge in trying to stop them. The “home” side should be too good this week and win by 15 goals.
Another intriguing clash of the round will be Catani’s battle with Cora Lynn at Taplins Road. In Georgi Williams, the Blues have one of the form players in the competition and should be too much for the 11th-placed Cora Lynn to handle. The Blues by 10 goals.
In the other games of the round, ninth-placed Lang Lang hosts Nilma Darnum (10th) at the showgrounds; the seventh-placed Dusties will travel to Longwarry to face off against the Crows; Nyora will be looking to break its drought and beat Neerim South; and Garfield hosts Poowong.
