IF you’ve ever thought about joining the cyclist whizzing past on one of the many bike paths in the shire, now could be the perfect time.
The Cardinia Bicycle User Group is appealing for cyclists within the shire to join them on regular rides.
Gathering multiple times each week, the group welcomes riders of all fitness levels, ages and abililites. Member Maree Cullinan said the group was a great way for cyclists to meet like-minded people and engage in a fun activity.
“Bike riding provides social connections, as well as improving fitness and health outcomes,” she said.
“All rides include great coffee and conversation.”
As well as co-ordinating rides, the group acts as a voice for cyclists throughout the shire.
“We have a close working relationship with the local council to ensure that the safest environment possible is created for cyclists of all ages,” Maree said.
“Becoming a member is a great way to get involved with cycling issues, explore the community and discover a world of bike tracks.”
Riders regularly take on new routes and get the chance to explore different parts of the shire, while engaging in a fun and challenging ride.
The group meets for rides during the week as well as on Saturday morning and Sundays. They also hold various informative sessions on bike maintenance and safe riding.
