IT’S funny, coffee seems to taste sweeter when it’s helping to raise money for charity.
Barry Plant in Pakenham put on its first Biggest Morning Tea event on Thursday 28 May.
Within the first few hours, sales administrator Christine Grant predicted about 40 people had come for a energiser cup of coffee – with part of the cost being directed to Cancer Council Victoria.
“It’s been great. We have opened it up to the community and the local traders have really supported us by coming to grab a coffee,” she said.
“We hope to make it an annual thing.”
In addition to a busy coffee cart out the front of the Station Street real estate agency, Barry Plant had a range of sweets including slices and cakes on offer.
Funds raised from the morning event will be used for a range of causes including medical research as well as covering diagnosis costs for cancer patients.
