LIGHTS, footy, action.
Cobras Junior Footy Club can now train day and night with the addition of new flood lighting at its home ground in Pakenham.
The bright lights, installed at the Pakenham Upper Recreational Reserve on Wednesday 27 May, will enable the junior stars to play throughout the week without completing with early fading light over winter.
Players Sean, Ebony and Flynn each jerseyed up for last week’s unveiling, kicking the footy underneath the bright lights.
The project, funded by Sports Recreation Victoria and Cardinia Shire Council, cost about $138,600.
The junior football club made a $5000 contribution to the new oval fittings.
The council said the works came in under budget, allowing additional works including the installation of a solar panel system designed to reduce electricity consumption at the reserve.
It is due to undergo a power upgrade to ensure all amenities can be powered at once.
