‘Sorry’ burglar leaves a note

A PAKENHAM teenager dubbed the “sorry burglar” failed to apologise his way out of police charges last week.
Police allege a 16-year-old Pakenham boy kicked open the back doors of several Pakenham homes over a number of months, taking computer equipment and gaming consoles.
In place of the electronics, the youth would leave apology notes, claiming to either return the stolen items or pay for them at a later date, according to Cardinia’s Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) Detective Senior Sergeant Trevor Smith.
It is believed the offender struck homes between Thursday 23 April and Tuesday 30 June.
One of the homes was broken into on three separate occasions, according to Detective Senior Sergeant Smith.
The boy has been charged with six counts of burglary and theft.
