Keep your shopping local

Mayor Leticia Wilmot.

Mayor’s message
As Mayor of Cardinia Shire I am proud to support local business and to encourage people to try our local businesses first.
Pakenham has a growing and vibrant shopping area and council is committed to maintaining and encouraging a friendly ‘high street’ feel in the central business district.
New development in recent years has helped to strengthen Pakenham as a destination for shopping and is complemented by improved car parking and other public amenities.
Council in April adopted the Pakenham Structure Plan which provides an exciting blueprint for growth and future development in the town.
There is a distinctly local feel in the Pakenham shopping area and this makes it a very pleasant place to browse, buy and enjoy a coffee or meal with friends and family.
I think that is one of the great things about shopping locally – there is both convenience and choice.
Council has partnered with the City of Casey to form the Casey Cardinia Business Region, encouraging investment and job creation.
We want to nurture the businesses we have as well as attract further opportunities to this fantastic region.
The Casey Cardinia Business Awards are just around the corner and celebrate the outstanding achievements of organisations and businesses.
I hope you enjoy this special feature, support the traders represented and continue to put Pakenham on your shopping list.
Cr Leticia Wilmot,
Mayor, Cardinia Shire Council.
