AWARDING the league’s finest players the final pieces of silverware after another superb junior football season, Tuesday’s presentation night honoured the best of the South East Juniors’ up-and-coming football talent.
Cranbourne’s gun Youth Girls midfielder Katelyn Cox ran away with the Youth Girls best and fairest, taking the prize on 25 votes ahead of Officer’s Taylah O’Hagan (21) and Beaconsfield premiership player and best on ground medallist Brooke Struylaart (20).
While it couldn’t pick up the flag this year, Endeavour Hills’ Premier 1 side excelled at the vote count with the quinellla – Frankie Mitropolous and Ali Zijai finishing one-two.
Parkmore’s Perry Lewis-Smith (27) capped off his sensational week by earning the third piece of silverware in three days – premiership, best on ground medal and finally the league best and fairest – as he tied for the title with Fountain Gate’s Brodie Worland.
He wasn’t the only one to achieve this astonishing feat as Berwick Springs’ Jarryd Barker (Under-14 Division 1) and Amber Clarke (Under-11 White) also piled on the awards this week.
Also one to pick up the triple-award was a Beaconsfield footballer who added a fourth and even more special award to the trophy case – the Lindsay Patching Medal.
Beaconsfield’s under-12 powerhouse Cadyn Lane won the Patching Medal for earning the most votes in the association to add to his Division 2 best on ground medal, premiership medallion and best and fairest.
Timbarra under 14 Connor Ollson (30) and Endeavour Hills under-12 Jonathan Tiralosi (30) also polled exceptionally at the Tuesday night count.
It capped off the 53rd season in South East Juniors (formerly Dandenong District Junior Football League) history as the league continues to grow from its Dandenong heartlands all the way through to new territory in West Gippsland.
