POLICE uncovered about 100 marijuana plants during a raid on a Pakenham rental property on Wednesday afternoon.
The bust came after police received information about the plants from various sources, including from a man who said he believed they have been inside the house for several months.
Speaking outside the Gallery Way property shortly after the raid, Senior Constable Adam Meagher said police were yet to talk to the residents of the house.
“No one’s home at the moment but we are currently making further inquiries and we will be locating them soon.
“At this stage we haven’t gone through completely, we’re waiting for the power company as they’ve set up an illegal and dangerous bypass.
“Once the power company has come and disconnected the power we’ll assess from there.”
Senior Constable Meagher said that the plants ranged from seedlings to four or five feet tall plants.
A botanist will also visit the house before the plants are removed.
