TWO teens have been charged over seriously injuring a man in his forties as well as a breaking another woman’s arm during an out-of-control party in Kooweerup last week.
The boys, both aged 17, were each charged with recklessly causing serious injury in relation to the violent brawl which saw the male victim rushed to hospital with a fractured skull and facial injuries including a suspected broken nose.
Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) Detective Sergeant Duane McDonald said at least one of the accused teens was charged with one count of affray.
A third teen is due to be interviewed by police and is likely to face similar charges over the gatecrasher assault in the early hours of Sunday 8 November.
A fight broke out before 2am at a party located near the corner of Station and Salmon streets in Kooweerup, the Gazette reported earlier.
Police said they suspected the violent offenders gatecrashed the party, with some allegedly carrying crowbars and spreading themselves throughout the venue and surrounding streets at the time of the attack.
When police arrived, they found a man in his forties with a fractured skull following a suspected coward hit to the back of the head.
He was conveyed to hospital while a woman who sustained a broken arm as a result of the brawl was treated at the scene along with two minors who sustained minor facial injuries.
The Gazette could not confirm if the man had been discharged from hospital.
The teens facing charges have been bailed to appear at the Children’s Court of Victoria on 4 December.
