A RECENT meeting of The Rotary Club of Berwick has seen it receive a Principal’s Award from Berwick Secondary College in honour of its ongoing support and recognising member Bill Minns reaching 55 years of service to Rotary.
College principal Kerri Bolch honoured the club with the presentation to acknowledge 35 years of support.
Among the projects funded by the club were upgrades to the performing arts and senior student centres, groundworks to improve student access and a proposed new permanent assembly area shelter.
In total the club has donated in excess of $300,000 to the college.
In addition to financial contributions, the club has also conducted presentation balls for year 11 students, run mock job interview programs and sponsored students into the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment.
Club member John Rosenthal said it was “a great example of the community working together for our youth”.
Mr Minns, a former president, was presented with a framed certificate of appreciation from Rotary International and a personal letter of recognition from Rotary International President K R ‘Ravi’ Ravindran.
Mr Minns has lived and worked in Berwick since he was a boy and the entirety of his 55 year involvement with the Rotary Club has been with the Berwick chapter.
