THE Kooweerup Football Club conducted a very successful barbecue for the Good Friday Appeal late last week, raising almost $1000 for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The fundraiser was well supported by local shoppers as they prepared for the Easter break and they showed little reluctance to dig deep for the sick kids.
Those on the Kooweerup Football Club committee, as well as junior players, shook collection tins and sold sausages and were assisted by members of the Kooweerup Seniors Club and the Kooweerup Hospital Men’s Shed who all worked together for the appeal.
Football club president Dan Crowley said: “It was pleasing to have the football club combining with other local community groups to support the Good Friday Appeal, particularly as the football club now has eight junior teams and over 60 registered junior Auskick members who may one day require the services of the Royal Children’s Hospital.”
