PAKENHAM tikes all lent an ear to hear a story read at the same time around the nation on Wednesday 25 May.
Casey Childcare and Kindergarten kids listened intently as Cardinia Shire Councillor Leticia Wilmot read “I got that hat” out loud.
And they weren’t the only ones listening.
The same storybook was read in libraries and childcare centres around the nation at the same time as part of this year’s 16th national simultaneous story-time.
Childcare Director Debbie Porter said the littlies spent weeks making special craft creations, including a hat, in the lead-up to the storytelling event.
“Both our three-year-old Turtle room and four-year-old Dolphin room children had been preparing for this event over several weeks, reading the book and making a variety of hats to celebrate the book reading,” said Director Debbie Porter.
She said Cr Wilmot’s storytelling was almost overshadowed by the kinder and pre-kinder kids, who shouted out the words with enthusiasm.
