Shire scores sports goals

SPORT and recreation clubs in the Cardinia Shire will share in close to $1 million of funding as part of the latest round of VicHealth’s Active Club Grants program.
Member for Eastern Victoria Region Daniel Mulino MP said the grants would help more people in the Cardinia Shire become involved in local clubs and reap the health benefits of physical activity.
Through the Active Club Grants, clubs can apply for a grant of up to $3000 for sports items and equipment, or a larger grant of up to $10,000 for core equipment that will help increase or maintain participation through their club.
Pakenham Bowls Club will receive $3000 for 12 x Henslite Lawn Bowls sets.
Pakenham Rugby League Club and Touch Association inc. will receive $1435 for Steeden Rugby League balls, goal post pads, portable first aid kits and official whistles.
Cockatoo and District Bowls Club inc. will receive $2545.48 for 7 lawn bowls sets.
Berwick Bowling Club inc. will receive $2696.40 for Jacks, bowling mats, and bowls.
Cora Lynn Football Club will receive $2314.68 for on-field first aid kit sport care bag, footballs, playing shorts, Auskick handball target and Auskick footballs.
Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Daniel Mulino MP said the money will assist residents in achieving healthier lifestyles.
“Not only do the grants encourage more people to get involved, they help our local sporting clubs continue to play and compete,” he said.
