A PAKENHAM surf store has hit out at the courts over what it says are lenient sentences after burglars stole $15,000 worth of watches and sunglasses.
The shop had recently moved from its previous location in John Street because of similar attacks.
“We were broken in at our old store several times, which is one of the reasons why we moved to Main Street,” said Inseption surf store director Jacob Cosentino.
Burglars smashed a hole in the front window about 2am on Wednesday 1 June.
“After going above and beyond helping the police, these criminals are still getting away with this,” he said.
“Punishments are nowhere near severe enough to deter these criminals, as the judicial systems allows them to continuously get away with incidents like this.
“Despite all the setbacks, we are still here trading and welcome the community’s ongoing support,” Mr Cosentino said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
