Things that go bang in the night

TWO loud explosions that have been connected to a Pakenham truck fire frightened a number of nearby residents late on Thursday night.
CFA and police were called to the scene of a parked Volvo van up in flames at Exchange Drive, Pakenham, in the industrial estate off Kooweerup Road at 11pm on Thursday 4 August.
Fire-fighters had the fire under control within 18 minutes.
A nearby resident said the noise had given her a shock.
“I had no idea what it was. It was loud and it was definitely two loud bangs about two minutes apart,” she said.
“One of my neighbours messaged me as she’d heard it and she said she’d had phone calls too with family hearing it. Other neighbours turned on their outside lights so a lot of people heard it.”
Police said the vehicle appeared to have been parked for several hours before the incident occurred.
Officers said the fire started in the cabin area and was most likely caused by an electrical fault. The circumstances were not being treated as suspicious.
