ONCE considered a sport for grandparents, lawn bowls now has a growing following of young people including Pakenham Secondary College student.
On Tuesday 6 September, the school’s VCAL senior students celebrated their partnership with Pakenham Bowling Club with a friendly game.
Teacher Laura Henderson said students used the opportunity to practise skills learnt within the school curriculum.
“Skills including teamwork, leadership, communication, time management and contingency planning are just a few required to organise such an event,” she said.
Students have found an increased sense of community as a result of learning and practising the sport locally.
