A REPORTEDLY unprovoked one-punch attack at a Beaconsfield hotel saw the male victim fall to the floor and hit his head.
The 29-year-old Carrum Downs victim was treated in hospital as a result of the ‘coward-punch’ assault.
At about 11.30pm on Friday 9 September, the victim was with his friends when the attacker approached and punched him in the face.
Police were told there was no apparent reason for the attack, which left the man in hospital with facial injuries.
The offender was with a group of people who left soon after the one-punch blow. He is described as being aged in his late thirties, with short hair, wearing a black T-shirt.
The victim was conveyed to Dandenong Hospital for treatment.
One-punch attackers are mandatorily sentenced to at least a 10-year non-parole jail period in Victoria.
The 2014 sentencing reform came after a series of high-profile coward punch deaths.
Anyone with information about the assault is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
