Arson involving stolen cars probed

POLICE are currently investigating several deliberately lit blazes involving stolen cars.
A car involved in a string of alleged burglaries and an attempted assault was only set ablaze after a police chase from Pakenham to Kooweerup in the early hours on Monday 18 September.
The stolen car was dumped at Shelton Park Drive, just of Rossiter Road in Kooweerup at 1.08am that morning before the alleged arsonist then went on to attempt to steal other cars.
Another stolen car was found completely burnt out in Upper Beaconsfield around the same time.
At 12.40am on Monday 19 September, police were alerted to a car fully engulfed in flames on Telegraph Road.
A day earlier, a derelict car without registration plates was found fully alight on Exchange Drive, Pakenham, before midday on Sunday 18 September.
A car found in the carpark off Old Menzies Creek Road, Emerald, was also discovered fully destroyed as a result of fire at 10.50pm Sunday night.
Police are yet to identify whether the car was listed as stolen.
