Busy year for Red Cross

BERWICK and Upper Beaconsfield Red Cross’ last fund-raising effort for the year was the Christmas raffle, drawn at the Christmas luncheon on Friday 9 December at Sage Restaurant.
“The year has been a busy one, with demands from local and overseas trouble spots needing more funding than ever,” Red Cross’ Glenys Collins said.
“Fund-raising during the year involved a fashion parade, street stall, raffles, sausage sizzles and a luncheon at the home of Marion Limpus as well as our monthly trading table at our meetings.”
More than $10,000 was raised by a relatively small band of members.
Ms Collins said new members would be made welcome in the New Year.
The next Blood Bank collection will be from 23-27 January at Narre Warren North Community Centre.
