LAKESIDE residents got into the Christmas spirit as Santa came into town last Sunday.
Santa Claus arrived in style in his firetruck and clued in on what was on the wish list for good boys and girls in Lakeside.
Pakenham CFA members filled in as Santa’s elves for the day.
Highlights included the jumping castle, pancakes, petting zoo, ice-cream van, a coffee van, and a visit from some Shetland ponies.
Near the playground, there were colouring and painting activities where kids could craft their own Christmas decorations.
Lakeside Residents Group vice-president David Farrelly said it was a “fantastic family day”.
“The weather was absolutely perfect and the attendance was well up from last year – about 350 – with over 120 kids visiting Santa,” Mr Farrelly said.
“The kids were all eager to meet Santa, and told him what was on their Christmas list.
“There was one minor hiccup at the beginning because we had a power issue. We had to hire a generator because we had a couple of things that required power.”
Mr Farrelly said that the Christmas party mostly attracted Lakeside residents but was open to the wider community.
He said the Residents Group was considering making it a ‘members only’ event in future.
The Kids Christmas Party was on Sunday 4 December at Dragon Park, Lakeside.
