Two face kidnap, extortion and assault charges

POLICE have charged two men with sexual assault, kidnapping and extortion following a drug investigation in Berwick.
Police said the Berwick men were located and arrested after tip-offs from people in the neighbourhood, and police have vowed to continue investigating drug crimes in the Berwick area.
A Pakenham teen was also taken in for questioning.
Police swooped on a house in Elgin Street, Berwick, about 9.20am on Wednesday 15 December and arrested the male-female trio.
A 23-year-old Berwick man was charged after failing to appear at court in relation to sexual assault offences, burglary and possessing a drug of dependence.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 15 December.
A 26-year-old Berwick man was charged with kidnapping, extortion, assault offences, weapons offences, false imprisonment, theft of a motor vehicle and handling stolen goods.
He was also remanded in custody and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 15 December.
An 18-year-old Pakenham woman was interviewed by police and issued with a caution in relation to theft of a motor vehicle.
The trio were arrested as part of ongoing drug investigation being conducted by Greater Dandenong Divisional Response Unit detectives.
Police said the unit would continue to target drug and anti-social behaviour in the Berwick area in response to information from the local community.
