Profits ploughed into community

Since September 2007, the Bunyip and District Community Bank has granted more than $475,000 to over 100 groups and organisations.

Bunyip and District Community Bank Branch will launch its community investment program on Tuesday, 8 August, at 7pm at the Bunyip Community Hall.
Under the Community Bank model, Bunyip and District Community Bank Branch chairman Marg Bardon explained that the branch supports the community by allocating funding to groups and organisations from its profits.
The launch will provide local community groups and organisations with information about the community bank concept and how to apply for funding.
The Bunyip and District Community Bank Branch Community Investment Program is administered by Community Enterprise Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.
“Projects may be large or small, and carried out in collaboration with other groups or organisations at any level,” Mrs Bardon said.
There are currently more than 313 community bank branches across Australia that have returned more than $165 million to support local communities.
“We encourage everyone to bring their ideas to the table, so we can really find out what our community needs” Mrs Bardon said.
This is the 10th Community Grants Program for Bunyip and District Community Bank Branch.
Since September 2007, more than $475,000 has been granted to over 100 groups and organisations.
