“Get your best flanny, tracky daks and moccies on, grab your bloke or sheila, pick up Shazza/Kazza/Dazza/Bazza and warm up your air guitar arm – cos it’s Bogan Bingo time!”
Rachael Woodham is hosting a Bogan Bingo charity event on Friday 18 August at the Pakenham Golf Club.
Rachael is a volunteer entrepreneur for Australian charity group Project Gen Z, which launched two years ago in 2015.
Since the charity was founded, Rachael has taken multiple impact trips to Cambodia through Project Gen Z, running ‘Dare to Dream’ entrepreneurial workshops to hundreds of disadvantaged children and young adults.
“We teach them all sorts of practical business skills, such as marketing, how to budget and how to get a business off the ground,” Rachael said.
The workshops run for 10 days to 100 14 to 25-year-olds at Sunrise Cambodia, where the students get to take part in a range of activities to inspire them to further their education and start their own businesses.
“Each year the students get a budget – say $100 – which they take down to the market to pick an item or product.
“Then, they get to plan how they will market it, how many they will need for the business to work, how to make a profit, and how to pitch the product.”
Rachael is hoping to raise $5000 at the Bogan Bingo night towards her upcoming visit to Cambodia.
“Come along, have a stubby or two, and help me raise money for Project Gen Z. There will be prizes for the best-dressed bogan and best air guitar along with a ton of laughs, games and good old Aussie humour.”
The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets are $30 each or $200 for a table of eight people.
