The paddock stripped bare

A property owner is appealing for public assistance to locate items stolen from his Iona farm.
Paul, who did not reveal his last name, was left reeling after nine-large tubular steel gates, worth $400 each, and six water feed troughs, worth $300 each, were stolen from his property, sometime between 7pm on Monday 2 October and 4pm on Tuesday 3 October.
Paul does not live on his 48-hectare farm, which sits on the corner of Simpson and Fallon roads.
He said “all was good” on Sunday 1 October when he left the property, “but when I returned the gates were open and the padlocks cut”.
Police are investigating the matter, but Paul said he contacted local media in the hope someone saw something.
“It would have taken considerable time, they had to unscrew and unbolt the gates from each individual horse paddock,” he said.
He also believes the thefts were planned, as it would have taken a large vehicle to transport the stolen items.
“The gates are four metres long, longer than a van,” Paul said.
“I just hope by putting it out there, someone might remember something.”
Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to contact Pakenham Police Station on 5945 2500.
