Chopper chase following burglary

A police helicopter is pursuing an offender following an aggravated burglary on Eagle Drive in Pakenham at around 9:30am on Friday 2 February.
The intruder entered the residence while the son was home alone, making a “mess” and fleeing the scene upon realising the house was occupied.
“We had jewellery and other items stolen,” the shocked mother said.
“They made a good mess of things which leads us to believe he had some time before realising my son was home.
“They knew what they were doing; it doesn’t seem very opportunistic.
“We think they have taken the time to find out our patterns, seeing when the cars and here or not here.”
The family have resided at Eagle Drive for over 10 years and have never experienced a break-in.
“We’ve been here over 10 years and have never had any issues.
“We have all the right security systems in place, but because my son was home the alarm was off.”
Despite the intruder evading police, Constable Aaron Bowen from Pakenham Police is confident that the offender will be caught.
“The offender got away but we’ve got lot of good information on them, such as fingerprints and CCTV footage, so we are confident at this point,” he said.
