Victorians have dug deep and donated funds to people affected by the Bunyip State Park bushfires.

Casey Cardina Foundation (CCF) has worked tirelessly alongside Gippsland Emergency Relief (GER) fund to raise and distribute more than $170,000 to bushfire victims.

Various organisations contributed funding, including Cardinia Shire Council, City of Casey, City of Greater Dandenong, Lakeside Residents Group and the general public.

“The Gippsland Emergency Relief fund properly assessed each property in the fire affected areas and determined the amount of funding they would receive based on the impact,” CCF chair Paul Thomas said.

“Overall, it’s been an amazing community effort.”

City of Casey made a substantial donation of $20,000 on Wednesday.

“Cardinia is one of our neighbours and we felt compelled to reach out and so that’s what we’re doing,” City of Casey Mayor and CCF committee member Amanda Stapledon said.

“Our aim is to assist the community to get back on their feet again.”
