A Pakenham man has been charged with a string of offences following two alleged armed bank robberies in late December.

The 36-year-old was arrested by Armed Crime Squad detectives at his Pakenham address on Friday 17 January.

He was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, theft, common law assault and prohibited person possessing a firearm.

It’s understood the charges follow alleged armed robberies in Carnegie and Glen Waverley on 17 December and 20 December respectively.

Police also located a suspected imitation firearm inside his Pakenham property.

The man faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday and was remanded to appear again on 14 April.
