The first day of prep is often daunting for some but for one Pakenham boy, rocking up to school in style was a great distraction to eliminate any fear he might have had.

Last week Mason McKenzie-Heeman, who attends Pakenham Lakeside Primary School, and his mother Jasmine Bell reached out on Facebook to help him get to school in his all-time dream car, a Mustang.

Her post in a community noticeboard, which was just for fun, gained a lot of interest and many generous people offered their help.

After spotting the shout out, car enthusiast Gregor Gniewosz thought it would be kind to offer Mason a ride in his Mustang.

Much to Mason’s delight and Ms Bell’s surprise, the promise of a Mustang ride to school became true when a slick all-black Mustang GT turned up to their house on Monday morning.

“After he got ready for school we proceeded outside to find a black Mustang reversing into my drive way,” Ms Bell said.

“Little Mason immediately became star struck seeing his dream car and finding out that he would be taking a ride to school in it.

“The whole process and time he was absolutely in awe and blown away – it was amazing and he had the best time.”

But Mr Gniewosz’s generosity didn’t end there; the lovely gentleman gifted Mason an old Mustang badge as a memento.

“It came about from my boy’s forever growing passion for Mustangs, which he has been obsessed with for about two years now,” Ms Bell added.

“It started with just calling them out as we passed them or seeing them at the shops, then he has now proceeded to tell me that he intends to, when he is older, work with his dad and save $10,000 and buy one.”
