This year’s Cardinia Relay for Life will see the team Concepts and Results return to the track for its third year on Friday 21 February.

The team has been hard at it over the past few months, raising vital funds for cancer patients.

“This year we have increased our fundraising efforts,” team captain Bethany Campbell said.

From raising money at cinema outings, social dinners and quality raffles, to date, the group has raised more than $8000 but has an end goal to raise at least $10,000 before the big night.

When Ms Campbell was 12-years-old, and her sister was 10-years-old, their mum was diagnosed with breast cancer – and fortunately won her battle.

“I want to help raise money so that one day they may find a way to prevent or cure cancer, which will not only greatly assist those who are going through cancer but also the lives of the families,” Ms Campbell said.

“Myself, parents, sister and her husband, have all been involved in the Relay for Life the last three years so not only can we raise money for the future but also celebrate that my mum has come out the other end of it.

“My cousin Shane joined the team last year and walked nonstop for the whole 18 hours which was a great inspiration to the team.”

Ms Campell said cancer has touched the team’s members personally and will inspire them during the 24-hour nonstop relay.

“I know so many people to have been effected by cancer in the last 12 months specifically,” she added.

“Relay for Life is not only a great way to raise money and awareness for Cancer Council and cancer research but it’s also a fun event for all those involved.

“We have found it a great social activity for all the employees at my workplace and family and friends to get involved as there is so much going on at the event with entertainment and activities throughout the night to make it memorable.”
